FYI: 

This white piece is a spare part that is supplied with the mechanisms and holding tanks, but is not actually required. It is part of the bowl retainer bracket that sits on the toilet directly above the holding tank, its not actually a part of the mechanism or tank, and does cause some confusion. You can discard it if it's not required.
